Quote for the Day
Quote of the Day:-
"We all have grown up seeing Tendulkar thrashing every bowling attack in the world. We have lived on chases and never-say-die attitude of Ganguly. And we are the ones who have witnessed the strength of the great Indian Wall all our life. It's really been a great entertainment from these three. There will be better players but, there are heroes for every generation. My dad's time there was Gavaskar and mine were these three. It's bad that these three will leave the cricket field without having a single world cup on their name. I don't feel angry, I just feel sad. Really really sad."
- Some other Indian fan echoing my sentiments. Post of the year.

Straight from the Heart
I'm not really a subscriber of the whole Valentine thingie... it's just not a part of who I am.
But I will use this occasion to wax poetic abt some awesome quotes related to today's theme. I'm tired of the day already with tons of people wishing me Happy Valentines... I mean I've been hearing it since I was driving home at 5 in the morning from work.
Some people were starting their days, I was ending mine. It was just not the time.
Thanks qoTd once again.
True love comes quietly, without banners or flashing lights. If you hear bells, get your ears checked.
- Erich Segal
Story writers say that love is concerned only with young people, and the excitement and glamour of romance end at the altar. How blind they are. The best romance is inside marriage; the finest love stories come after the wedding, not before.
- Irving Stone
Real love is a pilgrimage. It happens when there is no strategy, but it is very rare because most people are strategists.
- Anita Brookner
Romance is the glamour which turns the dust of everyday life into a golden haze.
- Elinor Glyn, 1864 - 1943

Headstrong
Whoa, crazy weekend. First off, sat morning I answered a call on my cell phone around 8 in the morning - to do this I moved to the far end of my bed and went back to sleep there.
In a couple of mins, there was a loud crash and I looked to my left and lo and behold, my ceiling fan had come crashing down next to me. If not for that phone call, one of the blades would certainly have struck me.
To quote Ross from Friends, "I have a new-found zest for life."

The Time Traveller
Just read an awesome short tale from the master of combining religion + sci-fi elements - Arthur C. Clarke.
It's called The Nine Billion Names of God
I want to read all of his books now. Anyway, in the meantime here are quotes uttered by him:
The only way of finding the limits of the possible is by going beyond them into the impossible.
Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.
It may be that the old astrologers had the truth exactly reversed, when they believed that the stars controlled the destinies of men. The time may come when men control the destinies of stars.
There is hopeful symbolism in the fact that flags do not wave in a vacuum.

Still alive
I know it's been a while since I updated but I'm still here.
RL has been killing me lately and not leaving much time to post stuff. Work has been good with lots of partying on the weekends.
I don't know how soon until I can start posting all those links again.

Quotes of the Day - Chess
Since I'm once again become obsessed with it, today's them is rightly Chess.
One cannot play chess if one becomes aware of the pieces as living souls and of the fact that the Whites and the Blacks have more in common with each other than with the players. Suddenly one loses all interest in who will be champion.
- Anatol Rapoport
Chess is in its essence a game, in its form an art, and in its execution a science.
— Baron Tassilo von Heydebrand und der Lasa
Chess is mental torture.
- Garry Kasparov
When you see a good move, look for a better one.
- Emanuel Lasker

Steve is king
Holy apples Batman.
What an exciting day for a tech geek...
Watching Steve Jobs's keynote address abt the iPhone was awesome. A touch screen phone with pinch technology? Why hasn't anyone thought of that yet?
And today came the ice water... Cisco suing Apple for the iPhone trademark. I mean c'mon people, show some love. I know ther're just doing it so they get some iphones in advance as compensation. Hmmm.....
